PROCESS.

Two pairs of trousers that were never meant to meet. We cut both, and kept the halves that belonged together.

    CUT

The cargo pants were cut through at the knee, and the raw edge was left open. The line of the cut is not straight: it follows the hand, not a ruler.

    GRAFT

Lower legs taken from a pair of black denim jeans were joined under the camouflage, so the trousers continue in a different fabric, a different weight and a different history.

    DISTRESS

The denim hems were opened and torn by hand: holes, loose threads, frayed edges hanging free. The bottom of the trousers looks like it has already walked a long way.

    DIRT

The join was dirtied by hand, darkening the bottom of the camouflage until it fades into the black below. The seam between the two garments becomes a shadow instead of a line.
