PROCESS.

A sweatshirt that used to belong to a place. We kept the name, and took away its voice.
  1. 01

    BLACK

The sweatshirt was dyed black. The cotton absorbed it unevenly, and the warmth of the original colour still breathes through at the seams and the ribbing.

    PIGMENT

Black pigment was layered over the dye, settling on the surface of the fleece and catching on every fold.

    FADE

The lettering on the front was lightened by hand, slowly, until it sank back into the fabric. Still readable, no longer shouting.

    SPRAY

The surface was sprayed by hand to break the uniformity of the black and build shadow around the body.

    LIGHT

The ornamental frame on the back was printed by laser. The light draws the image out of the fibre itself, with no ink laid on top.
